Interior Designer Janelle Watson Evans, became involved with this private and palatial Ashmore, Gold Coast residence when the owners invited her to design a new look for the grand Entry and Formal Living Areas.
Designed for a growing family (who were now becoming adults), the clients wanted to add a cosy feel with sophisticated elements to suit their changing needs.
The interior design brief from the client was to ‘create a warm, comfortable but luxurious vibe suited to lounging and reading, after dinner drinks, and snuggling in front of the fire on winter nights.’
The formal living room includes a spectacular stone fireplace and a hidden wall-to-wall library as its main focal point. The space was softened by the addition of twin sumptuous ‘his and her’ velvet Chesterfields, gold slipper chairs, vintage art, and a room-size one-of-a-kind custom-designed rug.
Luxurious ‘dramatic drop’ custom-made linen curtains were added to the French doors and windows, creating warmth and an elegant ambience.
To enhance the lighting design and to provide contrast to the natural patina of the stone fireplace, a classical, fully restored antique crystal Chandelier was sourced and installed to add final cohesion to the space.
A repetition of this traditional antique Chandelier was hung above the Master Ensuite bathtub to echo the formal living area and to complete the classical, luxury aesthetic.
Since then, Janelle has enjoyed styling and staging the home for the arrival of VIP guests and, of course, her fantastic clients.
