Sorrento House

This waterfront family home underwent a large-scale renovation, including an upstairs parent’s retreat, a new kitchen and alfresco area, creation of a family ‘snug’ with a cosy stone fireplace.

The brief was to repurpose and create interesting spaces that added warmth and personality. A modern tropical theme for the formal dining area included the installation of luxury wallpaper that echoed the home’s extensive tropical garden.

Bold emerald green walls with custom-made satin black timber panelling added strength and architectural integrity to the space. A large-scale dining table was sourced and paired with iconic black beech Series 7 chairs by Arne Jacobsen. Antique crystal wall and ceiling chandeliers added to the Hollywood Regency theme and acted as a layered twist to the modernism of the Hollywood Regency Series 7 chairs.

A bespoke built-in cocktail cabinet featuring coloured glass, mirror and Calacutta Oro marble was created in a difficult nook in the formal dining space. Assorted vintage chairs and ottomans were coloured and reupholstered to add character, along with custom-made rugs and velvet sofas.

The old master bedroom was converted to a brooding media room with an adjoining gym. Two luxury geometric wallpapers in charcoal, gold and sage green were paired with bespoke deep sage green curtains that created a cosy cocooning effect in the media room. A selection of luxury wallpapers, furnishings and objects were installed throughout, creating a colourful, eclectic vibe to the home.
